The proposal for the central column of the hotel’s entrance hall, transformed into a three-dimensional canvas, features a work inspired by traditional Japanese art and the work of the artist M.C. Escher.
The column, hand-painted from the light projection of my digital composition, serves as an aquatic backdrop for the central elements: the koi carp. These figures, a symbol of good fortune and perseverance in Japanese culture, are rendered in a vibrant red-orange colour that contrasts dramatically with the blue background. The arrangement of the carp, swimming towards the first floor of the hotel is inspired by the repetitive patterns and gradual transformations characteristic of Escher, creating an illusion of continuous, fluid movement around the column.
