MURALS, WALLAPERS AND TEXTILE DESIGN
Eternal Rome: layers of history
Rome is known as “the eternal city”. A city through which time does not pass, in which all the stages of history survive, forever, like layers in a wall.
From this premise, the concept of “layers of history” was born, in which, as if an archaeologist were looking for ancient Roman ruins and gradually peeling away layers of a wall, an exciting journey through the history of Rome is shown, defined by iconic visual elements that represent the most relevant historical stages of the city (Ancient Rome, Renaissance, contemporary period).

“Rome deconstructed” murals
Inspired by the work of M.C. Escher, I have created three works intended to be used as the backdrop for wardrobes and mini-bars in bedrooms. The impossible architecture of the context of each composition mimics the spirit of Roman culture, which hovers in the atmosphere of the canvas and is transferred to the foreground through the representation of an iconic character: Julius Caesar holding a glass of Martini in the first work, the god Bacchus in the second, the statue of Neptune pouring his wine in the third. The presence of alcohol in the central characters is related to the contextualisation of the work in the minibar.
CURTAINS DESIGN
Curtains: “Pac Man Quo Vadis”
For the curtains in the rooms, I created a composition showing an intricate Pac Man maze created through small tiles characteristic of ancient Rome. I created in detail and placed one by one the hundreds of tiles that make up the mazes and central characters.
Conceptually, the layers of history are vertebrated in this work through the impossible mixture of ancient Rome and contemporary Pop culture.
WALLPAPERS DESIGN
Wallpapers: “The discovery”
For the wall coverings in the rooms I have created 3 Wallpaper designs. These pieces combine repetitive patterns with isolated visual interruptions, which add an air of freshness and originality to the traditional homogeneous wallpaper.
The visual interruptions in each of the wallpapers link directly to the concept of “layers of history”. As if the wallpaper on the wall of the room has been ripped off, a small area of the surface is revealed where a piece of an earlier wall covered with paintings of ancient Rome protrudes.
This concept invites the guest to feel like they are in a room surrounded by layers of history.
